Kumaran Pathmanathen aka KP who was the head of LTTE international network, succeeded prabaharan in May 2009 as the new head of LTTE and engineered the concept of ‘transnational’ Government which was more lateralized to democracy than LTTE’s previous policies.
Yet, in a surprising move KP was located, arrested and brought to Srilanka by low enforcement authority of SriLanka with the help of Intel units of neighbouring countries. Given that LTTE was rooted out from SriLanka in the recently concluded 4th elam war, This move made a major blow to LTTE organization and its outfits completely hampering its global network.
“The arrest made us possible to prevent LTTE rising its head again”, Defence Secretory Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa was quoted as saying. When asked if KP is in custody, he answered in the affirmative ,confirming all the rumors and gossips.
As far as LTTE’s global network is concerned, it should be noted that SriLanka is under threat till the network is intact, making remaining remnants of the organization possible to collect money and regroup. To meet this threat GOSl (Government of SriLanka), should utilize its resources to strengthen the intelligence wing and broaden its coverage across the nations.A powerful intelligence unit which is no second to worlds first class Intel agencies like CIA, Mossard, would only can neutralize any kind of threat to the Sovereignty of SriLanka.
Nevertheless a long lasting solution only can be reached by a proper political agreement which can satisfy the demands of majority of Tamils. Given that the present ground situation is more favorable to a political solution, at this juncture all srilanks should should get to gather leaving racial barriers aside to rise as one nation, So that the solution whatever is obtained would be a long lasting peace
